Sharpness Field School - 2008

In 2008, MADU assisted 4-NAS members who were looking to complete their NAS Part II project by recording the remains of several partially and totally submerged wrecks that lie in a pound above an old disused lock where the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal meets the River Severn.

Permission was sought from the British Waterways Board (BWB) who were responsible for the area at the time, and permission was granted.  However when permission was requested to work in the pound for a second weekend to complete the work, despite having completed a full risk assessment as requested, BWB refused to grant further permission, so the project has reluctantly had to be put on hold.
