Michigan Field Schools

One of the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS) International Training Partners is the Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) in Traverse City, Michigan, USA, where Maritime Archaeology courses and field schools are run by Dr. Mark Holley.

In 2011 MADU were invited to assist with the running of a 2-week field school based on the college campas in Michigan. The success of the field school, and the relationship developed was such that MADU were subsequently invited back again to help with the 2012, 2014 and 2015 field schools. In 2013 the decision was made to run the field school overseas, and that year MADU were delighted to be able to host the field school in the UK.
