Marros Sands Wreck Investigation - 2014

Following storms that ravaged the United Kingdom during the first couple of months of 2014, numerous sightings of emerging wreckage were reported around the coast of the United Kingdom including various sites in South West Wales.

In February a report was received that a known wreck on Marros Sands had become substantially exposed and MADU were asked if they could visit the site to inspect, record and carry out a survey of the remains before they again became covered by sand. The work culminated with a report on the site:

Footnote:                                                                                                                    This wreck is possibly that of the Rover, a wooden schooner that became stranded on Marros Sands during a force 11 gale in 1886.  The Rover was 79gt (67nt) with dimensions of 71ft 4ins (L) x 18ft 7ins (B) x 9ft 5ins (D) and was on route from Saundersfoot to Wexford with a cargo of culm (coal dust) when she went aground on Marros Sands.
