Students Learning to Survey & Record Underwater

Since its formation in 1997, MADU have maintained a close working relationship with the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS), and several members of MADU are NAS Tutors including a Senior Tutor and the NAS Regional Co-ordinator for Wales.

In this guise, MADU provide talks and presentations on a variety of subject relating to Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage, as well as running NAS Field Schools and Training Courses at all levels, including:

Old NAS Courses:

Introduction to Foreshore & Underwater Archaeology (1-day taster theory and practical courses).

Part I Certificate in Foreshore & Underwater Archaeology (2-day theory and practical courses).

Part II Intermediate Certificate in Foreshore & Underwater Archaeology practical survey field schools.  For field work projects MADU has assisted with see Part II Reports.

Part III Advanced Certificate in Foreshore & Underwater Archaeology specialist courses including:

Intertidal Surveying and Recording

Underwater & Intertidal E-leaning Recorder Skills Days (1-day practical recording field schools).

Underwater & Intertidal E-leaning Surveyor Skills Days (2-day practical 2D surveying field schools).

The NAS have been running training in Maritime Archaeology since 1986, and MADU have been providing talks & presentations, running courses and field schools on behalf of NAS both in the UK and abroad since 2005.  Venues MADU has visited have include:
