Llandudno Field School - 2014

In 2014, MADU were invited by the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS) to provide an evening talk on Maritime Archaeology for members of the general public at the Llandudno Town Hall on Friday 14th November.

During the following weekend, MADU ran an Intertidal Recording Course for volunteers from the Ships' Timbers Maritime Museum.  The weekend took place at West Beach, Llandudno where there is the wreck of the Flying Foam which the Ships' Timbers have taken on as part of the NAS Adopt-a-Wreck Scheme.

Unfortunately the tides over the weekend were neaps and the wreck did not uncover, so the course was run on another interesting timber feature on the beach that lies just below mean high water and appears to be a culvert, sluice or drainage channel.

The Friday evening talk and recording weekend were generously funded by Cadw.
